Freedom

| We usually seek freedom because we want to be free from or free for. You may want to be free from pain or free to do what you want. In both cases, you are running from yourself. This is not the path to freedom.

| When you seek to be free from, you are running from yourself by escaping your past. Your perception is that something that has happened to you holds you a prisoner. Therefore, you are relinquishing your freedom as the creator of your life. You are not recognizing that you are your own prison. You are giving away your power to your past. You are not free.

| When you seek freedom for, you are running from yourself towards the future. Your perception is that something in the future holds a key to your happiness. Therefore, you are once again relinquishing your freedom as the creator of your life. This time you are not recognizing that the only time you have is the present, and your choices and perceptions in the present create or co-create that which you are trying to run towards, while neglecting the very present that creates it. You are then creating unconsciously, by default. You are not free.

The shaman or the Person of Power seeks Personal Freedom. This type of freedom is a state and a path. As a state, Personal Freedom is the state of recognizing yourself as an infinite being in an infinite universe; a being that is free to grow, create and choose in a universe that conspires with that growth because it is an essential part of that growth.

When you have a dream or goal, you want something that is not yet manifest (perceivable) in your life. It is not perceivable because it is not localized in time or space. It is not visible yet.
If you have a clear vision of it in your mind, however, then your imagination perceives it. Your imagination can engage your creativity to create it in the physical world. That’s the process by which a vision becomes a painting or a building, a feeling a dance or poem. The same process used for creating art is used to manifest your dream into reality.

Embrace change, for it is the only sensible way to move towards your desired goals. |
| Why do you resist change? Why does going for what you want creates stress in your system? Here’s the skinny on this: When you want to manifest a new reality you are like a dweller that wants to move from her old house into a new, larger house. Your Reticular Activating System, however is like your guardian dog, deciding what is accepted by your subconscious mind and when it needs to alert your nervous system of danger. Opportunity in this story is the real estate agent bringing you the chance to move into a new house. The old house is familiar, so your Reticular Activating System wags its tail at it. But the new house you want, your dream, that’s unfamiliar, and the RAS will bark and growl at the real estate agent –opportunity. RAS will alert the amygdala and your nervous system goes in high alert. That’s why you stress out. That’s why you resist! Solution? Create a process to make the unfamiliar more familiar and increase your tolerance for the new reality you desire. |
